Aux Batifolles, North Fitzroy, Victoria

another venture out of the safe confines of my beloved city in the name of food. an 18 mins ride on tram 96 from bourke street mall will bring you here.

VENISON TERRINE SERVED WITH ONION JAM AND FIG BREAD - quite forgettable. i have forgotten how it tastes like.

ESCARGOTS GRILLED WITH GARLIC, PARSLEY and LEMON BUTTER - perhaps they used unsalted butter as the snails were almost tasteless except for the hint of parsley in oil.

SEAFOOD GRATIN - this was less than ordinary and tasted like frozen marinara mix cooked in cheese.

CONFIT & CRISPY LEG PAN SEALED DUCK BREAST WITH FIG SAUCE - i enjoyed my main course although it was nowhere near crispy.

CHOCOLATE PROFITEROLES VANILLA ICE CREAM AND WARM SAUCE - tasted like a chunk of frozen pastry and ice cream, i couldn't tell where the puff pastry begins and where the vanilla ice block ends.

TRADITIONAL VANILLA CREME BRULEE - i have a weakness for creme brulees but the firm curdy texture here failed to delight.

i don't think it is worth my travelling time out of the city for this brasserie but glad i finally gave it a try - mi!
