housewarming

December 22nd was an auspicious day according to Siewpoo who scheduled her housewarming for this lucky day. This day was so favourable that we ended up doing Jessie's long overdue housewarming as well.

As you can see, we had a steamboat/teppanyaki style dinner. jessie prepared the stock base by boiling chicken/fish bones and carrots. there were balls aplenty, egg tofu, teriyaki chicken, soy wine fish, sliced beef, enoki/oyster mushrooms, fake crabsticks, noodle, and all the usual accompaniment to steamboat. the soup stock at the very end of the session was real tasty.

Jessie received some arty farty kosta boda glasses as a housewarming gift.

we moved on to siewpoo's new place before the turn of midnight to 'boil lotsa water and switch on all the lights'. it was "yuan xiao" ("tang yuan jie" to mi), so lena made some glutinous rice balls with peanut and sesame filling for everyone. we also had some mini cupcakes with exorbitant prices from let them eat cake.

they looked So pretty in the shop; too bad they didn't taste as good as they looked. -mi!
